Donations and volunteers badly needed!!!!

Hi. Many of you have probably seen the Star Beacon article on the parvo outbreak at the APL. Parvo is a huge problem all over NE Ohio right now, and the shelter has decided to close until July 30th to focus on cleaning, in order to prevent the spread of this awful virus. Estimates are that the shelter is going to lose at least $10,000 due to this crisis (I know the article said $6,000, but the Board President believes that is very low). If you've ever considered donating to the APL, this would be a wonderful time to do it. We accept donations via PayPal at our website.

We could also really use more volunteers to help us find homes for the animals. During the quarantine period, the dog warden is still bringing in dogs! And the shelter was horribly overcrowded to begin with. Local volunteers are needed to help evaluate dogs and cats in order to provide more thorough Petfinder descriptions. And volunteers out of the area can help with posting and contacting rescue groups. Please contact me at dawn.shimp @ gmail.com (remove spaces) if you're interested in helping!

thanks :)
~Dawn
